Grassroots Development and Empowerment Action Platform
Girls Leadership Development

Grassroots Development and Empowerment Action Platform (GDEAP) has recently begun a program aimed at preparing today’s girl child with the right values to help them blossom and become budding women of the future. GDEAP understands that it is necessary to mold young girls from a very early age such as when they are studying in primary schools. These young Cameroonian girls are to be drawn from selected communities and will be taught how to make the most of the leadership mantle by starting with regular school leadership activities such as Class Delegates.

Grassroots Development and Empowerment Action Platform has already started to work with selected schools at the grassroots level and they hope educate the school administrators to give girls a fifty percent share of all posts of responsibility in all schools at the local community level. GDEAP will provide support to youth and more particularly to ensure that girls participate in the development of their local communities. GDEAP has taken upon itself to offer leadership training through its youth empowerment program.

Girls Leadership Development
GDEAP would be involved with the Support Girls Leadership Mentoring and Training program.

The objective of this program is to mentor and also develop girl leaders who are expert in the following:

  • Leadership development.

  • Job skills.

  • Knowledge training.

  • Productivity.

  • Forward thinking and creativity.

This program will engage mentoring and monitoring young girls in repetitive learning cycles for seven years. Young girls will be put through on-the-ground training and coaching as well as mentoring activities. They will also be trained through a special project which GDEAP is developing called the “SMART KID, SMART TUTOR” an online and social networking communities and engagement.

This program aims to be a long term program which would tackle the problem of widespread disillusionment among young girls in Cameroon particular those at the grassroots .The overall goal will be that the program should have a positive long term impact to help ensure that more number of girls are empowered and skillfully trained for future jobs. By promoting literacy among young Cameroonian girls it is hoped that we can empower women to take their own destiny into their own hands.
